Geocache Description:

Kilometer 150 is on Baja Highway 5 (Mexicali to San Felipe). It is just past the Military Checkpoint and a great point to pull off and stretch your legs. There is parking at KM 150.

At this spot on October 13, 1956, nothing happened. However before and after that date many things have happened in this area. The dirt road west from this spot leads in to what is called Calamity Canyon. Many go in to Calamity Canyon but not all come out. The main reason for this is the many switchbacks in this canyon that are difficult to manage. There are also many dead ends in there and those are the reasons it is easy to get lost in this canyon. Of course with our GPSr's our dune buggy group never gets lost since we always know where we are. Our group tries to make the trip through at least once a year, sometimes we make it all the way to the power lines, that provide power to San Felipe, and some times we have breakdowns and have to track back out. Enjoy your stop at this location and good luck finding the cache. As always, look out for critters that call the desert home.
