Bald Hill rises 1,141 feet and offers spectacular views of Marin and the San Francisco Bay in every direction. It can be windy in winter and hot in the summer, but there is no better place to be.
This cache is located near the summit of Bald Hill, and has its own scenic rewards. The cache is an ammo can, hidden away from the trail. You will have to look closely in order to spot it. It is not meant to be noticed by the casual observor.
I have come here from the Deer Park trailhead, past the Deer Hollow cache. Others start from Phoenix Lake or take the very steep access trail through the open space preserve (off of Redwood Rd. in San Anselmo) that goes directly to the Worn Springs fire road. There are also trails from the Sky Ranch open space addition and from Oak Avenue or Upper Road West that offer easy approaches, but pay attention to the parking restrictions.
