Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the side of a road (If you can call it that) between Willowby Waterleys and Gilmorton in Leicestershire. It should be easy to find but harder to get to. The terrain is level but rough under foot, it would have been a road in Saxon Times. If you are feeling clever and have a 4x4 then you could get to it by vehicle but it is not advisable. Any how it is only a 3-400meter walk from the parking spot.

To do the "Saxon Times" cache please park at the junction between the old road and newish road at N52 30.274 W001 09.191. The cache is a short walk from here, a matter of a few hundred yards, but it is the worst road I have ever walked down. For best effect, it should really be undertaken on a day of bad weather, and then you can imagine what it would have been like, to have to walk to the neighbourghing village, with a small herd of swine some 800 years ago. If you would like to brave a longer walk, then park in Gilmorton at the Pub and walk down the road marked Peatling Parva, after 400 meters follow the footpath and the cache is about 1 1/4 miles. When you get to the cache spot, the cache itself is well hidden in a typical spot 12 feet off of the track to your left hand side, abit of poking around in the leaf litter under the oak tree should reveal all. The cache is a tupperware sandwich box covered in brown parcel tape for camo and in a black bin linner to keep the wet out. It contains ballons, pencil sharpeners, a game from Lamins cache at Shearsby, Coins, Spinning Top & Log Book. I hope you enjoy this journey back in time and if you are into re-enactments and fancy doing the walk in traditional leather footwear, please do.
