Within spitting distance of I-5 and the Rogue River. Bring your fishing pole.

Ben Hur Lampman was the "Oracle of Gold Hill". He ran the Gold Hill News from 1912 untill the Oregonian lured him away in 1916. Lampman was an editor,essayist,short story writer and a poet.In June of 1947 the City of Gold Hill held Ben Hur Lampman Day honoring Lampman. In February of 1951 Govenor McKay declared Lampman a Poet Laureate of Oregon. The strip of land containing this cache was obtained from Jackson County by the committee promoting Ben Hur Lampman Day and was dedicated as a park.
