You can park for free at Abbotswell car park N50° 54.908 W001°
44.902 .
This is an offset Multicache and you will have to pick up a
couple of virtual clues before finding the cache.
Visit the object at N50° 54.851 W001° 44.879. There you will
find a 'compass' of sorts. Find the city next to 315°, its distance
is ABC miles. Now find the Astronomical Object located between 5°
and 10°, its distance is DEF. Now find the Celestial body located
between 60° and 65°, it's distance is G.HIJKLM.
The cache may be found at N50° 54.KBF W001° 44.CED
Now that you have the co-ordinates take the path down the hill
towards the cache, when you reach a small track, look up to your
left and you will see a wooden structure by the fence on the bend
of the road (co-ord's and photo kindly supplied by The Wobbly Club
- N50°54.931 W001°44.832). If you care to take a look, you will
find the Abbots well, underneath the wooden cover is a clear pool
of water. There is further information about the Abbots well at the
site of the virtual clue.
This cache has been placed in the New Forest under the agreement
between the New Forest Forestry Commission and the Geocaching
Association of Great Britain. It is important that we demonstrate
that we can be trusted to treat the forest with the respect and
understanding that it deserves. Please follow the guidelines
listed.
The cache is hidden in a large plastic ice-cream container. It
is hidden in an area that is prolific with gorse bushes and has
been camouflaged using natural materiels. This is partly to try and
keep the livestock from investigating the container and partly to
hide it from muggles. I strongly advise that you take some thick
gloves with you or some other means of providing protection against
gorse bush spines whilst retrieving the cache. Please try and be
gentle with the camouflage materiel.
The total distance from the car park to the cache is only a
couple of hundred metres, however this area provides excellent
walking opportunities and you may want to allow some time to have a
stroll.
It is possible to walk across to Hasley Inclosure and then on to
Ibsley common where you can visit
GCHA4E - Ibsley WWII RDF Site ,
We hope that you enjoy this cache and the area surrounding it.
Did I mention the gorse bushes and the gloves already ?
