Billy Wynt Traditional Geocache
Thornproof: I think the time has come to archive this cache. I'm no longer in South Wales often enough to mainatin it, given its tendency to be muggled. I hope someone else will find a better spot on the Billy Wynt and set another cache as the view is definitely worth the walk.

Billy Wynt is a regular cache hidden near the path to Hen Felin
Wynt.
Hen Felin Wynt
On a high hill beside the town of Llantrisant can be seen a stone
tower known locally as the “Billy Wynt”. It is the remains of a
13th Century windmill. The windmill is said to have been destroyed
during a battle in the middle ages. By the early 19th Century the
tower was in ruins and in 1893 it was restored as a folly. Today
the path up to the Billy Wynt is a popular local walk and on a
clear day the views from the top extend as far as the Brecon
Beacons.
The closest car parking is at N51 32.458 W003 22.643 Ignore what
looks like the obvious path on to the hill, as this is a private
road to a house. Walk downhill, right along the front of the row of
cottages known as Heol Y Graig and through the kissing gate on to
the hillside path.
The path is fairly steep in places and not really suitable for
toddlers and push chairs. There is another car park in the middle
of the town. It’s less than half a mile from the nearer parking
spot to the cache.
It’s well worth going the extra few yards to explore the Billy Wynt
itself after you’ve found the cache.

The cache is a camouflaged 1 litre plastic box. It can be found
without leaving the path.
