Independence Day II Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

spraay: This is the second container that's been lifted from this park, so I'm going to take that as an indication that may it's not the best location for a full-size cache. This cache ran for five years, so I won't complain too much :-)

Geocache Description:

This one is the successor to Independence Day. It is on a different part of the trail, near a notable landmark.

This cache has been around a lot longer than I expected it would. The first one I placed at the park disappeared. I've been glad to see how many people have visited it. Many of you left pictures on the original cache camera, and others have posted their own. I appreciate that. It's a lot of fun to see who comes. I especially like to see the families and kids out enjoying the outdoors. To me that's what caching is all about.

This is a great county park. I lived in the Whitmore Lake area for a year or so and came here often. They run quite a setup, including a nice little beach area, a fishing dock, a boat ramp, and a little water activity and pavilion with a snack area. You can also rent boats. According to recent information the park is charging a fee, even in the off-season, so be advised.

To find the cache, follow the prairie trail around to a notable park landmark and let your GPS zero you in. Since my original cache disappeared, so I made this one a little harder to find. Make sure you leave it as you found it. In rainy weather the cache may be surrounded by wet ground, or even standing water.

Please replace the container upright and as level as possible. It's got a rubber seal, so it should stay dry as long as it's not submerged. As a precaution, place trade items, cards and coins in the toy bag or with the log book.

God Bless, and Happy Caching
