Geocache Description:

Stelzer County Park. Take the stream trail for an easy shaded hike downhill to the first waypoint, a memorial monument to Ranger Cinthea Pasek. Significant Cedar Fire Damage is still evident.

Cinthea Pasek was the supervising ranger of Stelzer Park from the time it opened until the time of her death at a young age. Cinthea was a family friend since she was a young girl. Our kids spent many hours in this park, going there for many birthdays, campouts, meetings and Christmas Card Picture takings. It is a special place and you will see too why that is so. The inscription carved into the stone speaks about the spot where you are headed next and you will be able to see what she saw and loved about Stelzer Park.

You will need to find the memorial monument (large engraved stone to gather the balance of the coordinates to be able to make you way to the cache. This is an easy 81 foot down grade. Next leg will take you 153 foot up grade. After your hike and find, you should take the time to sit, relax and enjoy the view below and the Summit above where Night Hunter's Stelzer Park Summit cache is located a third of a mile southeast and 458 feet above you. You can contemplate going after the Summit while you rest. :-)

The last leg coordinates are: N32 52.xxx W116 54.yyy To determine xxx subtract 1,140 from Cinthea's first year at Stelzer. To determine yyy, subtract 1,886 from her last year at Stelzer. Cache is a 5"x7" clear Rubbermaid container.

Overall hike is about .8 mile one-way. It can be hot in summer, so remember water and be sure to watch for reptiles in the spring to fall. Poison Oak is abundant. Please don't venture off the trails, which is discouraged by park staff and there is no need to so. Take a close look for snakes BEFORE reaching into the cache area.

Current hours are 0830-1645. Must be off the trail by 1630. These hours change throughout the year. DO NOT PARK on Wildcat Canyon. If you are coming in from the South, continue North past the waypoint and on to the south entrance just .4 miles up the canyon.

We suggest you not decode the hint until you are onsite and have hunted. It really makes it very easy, almost a .5 in difficulty.
