Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Side Cut Metropark in Maumee, OH. The cache is a large ammo box and decorated to keep with the theme of this cache. Please trade PINK items, to keep with the theme as well. Please trade up, trade equal, trade pink, or don’t trade.

Since there are many kinds of cachers, who enjoy different aspects of caching, this cache can be found by several methods. Let me know the way you have taken in your logs. We saw 8 deer very near the cache area and I’ll bet that you’ll see some too!

Some people are about the trip to the cache, a good overview of the park, or want to take the dog for a long wonderful walk. You can start by parking at N 41 33.515 W83 40.331. You will walk towards Lamb Heritage Center, towards the Silver Lake Area, and down the red trail to the cache. It is about 2 miles round trip. I hope some of you hunt it this way. This is the way it was hidden, and hopefully the way that the person of honor will find this cache.

You can also just cache and dash. In that case, you’re on your own.

Now, why a PINK cache? Why the name? Why here?

My aunt is about the only person in our two families who doesn’t think we’re nuts for geocaching. In fact, she loves it. She’ll even walk in sandals through poison ivy to get the find! My aunt has always ridden the roller coaster of life with her arms up ready for the ride. Well, it got a little bumpy lately. About 1 month before this cache was hidden, my aunt discovered she has breast cancer. This is my way to honor her, and her “survivor” spirit. She will have surgery at the nearby St. Luke’s Hospital a week after this cache was hidden, which is why we chose Side Cut Park. Pink ribbons serve to increase breast cancer awareness. My aunt wants to find the cache, sometime after her surgeries. I hope she can take the long way.

UPDATE: 1/1/04 - Our team accompanied my aunt today to the cache! She did take the long way! Way to go! (See log below for pictures)
