Geocache Description:

Located in the South end of Durham Forest, right along a section of the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail.
Cache elevation: 371m

This cache was originally hidden as part of the Home on the Moraine series, but has now been transitioned to a regular cache hide.

You can enter Durham Forest from the official parking lot off Concession 7 at: N44 03.054 W79 05.531 or where the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail runs from the Walker Roods parking lot at: N44 02.376 W79 05.357 to Houston Road at Lakeridge Road at: N44 02.671 W79 04.061. Bring your Mountain Bike (or suitable winter gear) and enjoy the many many many trails in the forest! Once you locate the Oak Ridges Trail (White Blazes) you are on course... the cache is only meters from it!

The cache is a Blue 1 Litre square Freshware container

If you've brought your mountain bike, get ready for some of the best singletrack in the area! The south section is very hilly and technical. Watch out for Snakes and Ladders, which is a trail made of single bike brides, logs turns and lots of trees jumping out at you. The north section is a demonstration forest and has some good technical stretches if you shoot off the gravel roads and dual track but is very easy for the beginner to handle.

If that's too much to handle, stick to the Oak Ridges Trail (White Blazes) or any of the wider double track sections. Conditions usually range from loose sand to hard packed dirt.

The Oak Ridges Moraine extends 160 kilometres from the Niagara Escarpment in the west to the Trent River system in the east, and is on average 13 kilometres wide. One-hundred-and-fifty metres deep, the Moraine stands out as one of the most distinct landscapes of southern Ontario. Its height above the flat lands to the north and south, its rolling hills and river and stream valleys and large blocks of mixed forest provide solace and a sense of connection to the people who live, work and play on the Moraine, natural and wild habitat for flora and fauna, and untapped recreational opportunities.

NOTES:
  1. Family friendly.
  2. Bicycles allowed.
  3. Miles of singletrack to explore!
