Golf Wars

De caches van Golf Wars zijn gewoon een aantal traditionele caches gelegd in de provincie West-Vlaanderen, in de buurt van golfterreinen. Er zijn er vijf in aantal en bestaan uit een glazen pot ( van 500gr. Choco : ) ) met logboekje en potlood. Er is weinig plaats voor goodies, ook Travel Bugs zijn best klein van formaat.
Het centrale thema is dus Golf. Golflinks zijn meestal kunstmatig aangelegde groenzones die echter ook soms in de buurt van echte natuurgebieden liggen. Maar ook op de golfterreinen wordt de laatste jaren meer en meer aan verantwoord natuurbeheer gedaan. Zie hiervoor maar naar volgende info.

Deze caches laten u even de sfeer opsnuiven van deze sport om daarna op zoek te gaan in een natuurzone in de buurt. Op deze 5 caches komt u één maal terecht in de velden, tweemaal in een provinciaal domein of natuurgebied, éénmaal in een gemeentebos en eenmaal in een stukje bos dat langzamerhand door privé-bezit wordt verstikt.

Om geldig te loggen dient u telkens naar het startpunt te gaan, aan de ingang van het bedoelde golfterrein, een foto te maken van uzelf en het bord dat het terrein aangeeft. Daarna voert u een berekening uit aan de hand van de gegevens die u daar ter plaatse kunt vinden om de eigenlijke cache te vinden. Bij het loggen op Geocache.com voegt u dan uw foto erbij.

Opgelet: de legger is niet verantwoordelijk voor rondvliegende golfballen. Wees dus voorzichtig mocht u tussen de golflinks door moeten rijden of wandelen. Golfballen hebben geen ingebouwde GPS en landen niet altijd zo nauwkeurig : ).

The Golf Wars caches are just a number of traditional caches in the province of West-Vlaanderen, in the neighbourhood of golf clubs. There are five of them and they consist of a jar with logbook and pencil. There is not much room for goodies and travel bugs are better small.
Central theme is golf. Golf links are most of the time artificial parks of green but are sometimes near real nature parks. Last years those golf clubs are more and more concerned about the environment as You can see on the following link following link ( in Dutch ) .

These caches give You an impression of this sport and let you seek afterwards in the nature. By visiting the 5 caches You will arrive once in the middle of the fields, twice in a provincial domain or nature park, once in a little wood within a city and once in a piece of wood that is suffocated by private property.

To have a valid log You need to take a photograph of yourself at the entrance of the golf clubs. Then You make a calculation with data You can find there to find the spot where the cache is hidden. Whilst logging on Geocache.com, You must add the photo.

Attention: the owner of the cache is not responsible for accidents with flying golf balls. Be careful if You need to drive or walk between the links. Golf balls have no GPS on board and do not always land on the intended spot : ).

Golf Wars 4 : Waregem Golf Club

De eerste 9 holes van dit parcours liggen op de Karmelberg, genoemd naar het nabijgelegen klooster. Het terrein is heuvelachtig met brede fairways en wijde vergezichten. De tweede 9 holes liggen op een vlak terrein met talrijke waterhindernissen en zijn eerder technisch. Deze holes zijn veeleisend en spectaculair. Naast een prachtig golfparcours, beschikt de Waregem Golf Club over een goed uitgebouwd sportcomplex met squash, fitness en tennis.

The first 9 holes of this course are situated on the Karmelberg, named after the nearby monastery. The course is hilly with large fairways and offers wide panoramic views from the highest point of the region. The second 9 holes, situated in a flat area with lots of water hazards, are rather technical, challenging and spectacular.
