On top of the highest peak in an East Bay Regional Park with few visitors and fewer caches
This lovely regional park get much less traffic than its bordering neighbor to the south, possibly because there are no lakes, steam trains, or pony rides. However, there are stunning views, varied ecosystems, and trails open to hikers, bikes and equestrians. The main trailhead is just 5 minutes from I-80. There are also plenty of cows, who seem more territorial than usual this late fall, possibly protecting their many cute calves. Cache is an ammo box which requires a brief off-trail bushwhack. Lots of bramble berry vines that look like poison oak near the cache, but I didn't see any P.O. No need to go near any dangerous slopes.
