Approach the cache on a pretty well maintained dirt road, then park and enjoy a short hike through the desert. There is an elevation change at the end, but it's not that difficult. Take some time near the cache to look around. I found some really interesting rocks and fossils in the area. Yes, there are stickery plants and possibly crawly creatures (this is the desert...) so keep your eyes open. Don't forget to stop and admire the view of our beautiful Franklin Mountains!! Have fun!
The road we used initially was off 404. (noticed today on a maintenance trip, that the gas line road off the 404 now has a locked gate) There are a few dirt roads you can take off the I-10 access road just North of American RV and Marine to access the cache. I was in a pickup, and had no problems, so a higher clearance vehicle is recommended, as the rains washed the roads in a few places.
