Geocache Description:

I've been wanting to find this location forever. Big thanks to Rozz for reminding me that it was in the Hiking LI book I've had for about a year now. You can access the site a couple of ways but DO NOT use the driveway. The cache is on Suffolk County Parklands but the driveway is a right-of-way owned by the federal government and is off limits.

I took two different ways to get to the site. One was via the Paumanok Path at the N/E corner of Rt. 51 and Speonk-Riverhead Rd. Stay on the Paumanok and it will bend around and meet a woods road. That will take you toward the cache site. The other way, and the way I prefered, was to take the trailhead further south. The same one used for "Take a Hike" and "Hampton Hills". Both ways offer an extremely nice hike. The North route is a bit shorter but slighty tougher terrain. The south route is about 1.3 miles each way with a more gradual elevation change.

The cache is a large Lock & Lock packed with my usual swag. It also has a camera so take a few photos and leave it in the cache. It's designed to be an easy find for cachers and invisible to muggles. Just look for the pile of sticks. Please make sure it is completely covered with pine needles and sticks before you leave. Cache is only about 15 off trail and there is no bushwhacking. Thanks and enjoy.
