Geocache Description:

This cache is in the vacinity of Lava Butte. It is off the highway via Forest Service road approximately 1/3 mile. There are multiple roads and trails that lead directly to the cache site.No heavy bushwacking but you will have to walk around the manzanita.

This is a little known feature to the general Central Oregonian but a well marked geological feature that connects Lava Butte to the Newberry Caldera. The cache is in an accessible location but very young children not advised. Once you have found 2 yellow and red vertical "PGT" pipes that are in plain view you are very close...then if you see the barbed wire fence follow it to the corner of the fence line where there are wooden posts. FRom the corner wooden posts you are less than 20 feet from the cache. The cache itself is at the easy entrance to this extreme feature, not within it...however you will need to go down a few rocks. If you are an adventurist and like to experience something very unique go for it...it is well worth it. The cache is a black tennis ball cannister with a "Groundspeak" logo on it. Oh yes, it is NOT a cave.
