This is our First Cach. It is a pretty easy location. To park, take HW 242 to cold springs camp ground. Park in the parking area and travel by foot west.
This Cache is located at the Cave of the 7 Brothers. It really isn't much of a Cave but more of an overhang. The name comes from the history of the site. It is said that long ago, when lava fought water, there were many very sacred places for the water; these places have now been called springs. Well it was the Lava's job to try and cover over these living water areas with its liquid stone. At one spring, where four legged and two legged lived in harmony with the one legged, and the spirit of water; Lava wanted to stop the flow of life to the area by capping the flowing waters. So months passed as Lava flowed from what is now know as Black Butte, headed to the spring to cover and extinguish this place of life. Well, the 2 legged put out a cry for the earth and called any who could help. 7 Brothers came to the answer. 1 was a dwarf, fat and stout, 1 was a simple human, 1 was a gigantean, 1 was an elf, and 2 were of the winged people, and 1 was of the dog clan. These 7 Brothers stood against the flow of lava. The lava flowed over their balls of energy around them, but the lava could not pass. The area around them was protected and kept to the spirit of the water where life could flow, and in the place where the 7 made their stand; their imprint is pressed for all time. Or so the story is told.
