Stuck in the Merge - Gridlocked Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The DAK Girls: The growth of the Merge itself has caught up to this cache. Access to the final location (althogh still possible) is now beyond what was originally intended. Too much "bush-whacking" required.

As a momento we will leave the "Highway Assistance" cache up and change it to a single traditional cache with a log to sign. As of today - all other caches in the "Stuck in the Merge" series are now shut down. [:(]

Geocache Description:

WARNING – The coordinates above are CORRECT for this cache site.
However this cache can not be completed until you have first successfully found
all 3 of the "Stuck in the Merge" Highway caches.

The GridLock cache is the Big Reward for the “Merge” series.

Each of the three "Stuck in the Merge" Highway caches contains 1 piece of the 3 element lock combination. Without the correct combination you will not be able to open the cache container. And you will be left literally “Grid-Locked in the Merge”.

Click on the web-links below to see the other "Merge" caches.

Special Instructions for the 5/56/805 Highway caches only:
The Hwy 5, Hwy 56, and Hwy 805 caches all do not have physical log books. Therefore they require you to read the final instructions written on the first page of the physical log book contained in this cache. Follow the instructions when making your "on-line" log entries for those 3 Highway caches only. Special Instructions do not apply to log entries for the "GridLock" cache itself.

Hints:
As this is a very large cache container, bring larger items to trade. Find the Highway Assistance Triple AAA cache to receive help in the form of multiple hints for all of the "Stuck in the Merge" Highway caches. And don't forget you can not open this cache without completing the three Highway caches first.

April 6, 2005 Merge Construction Update
It appears that the construction in the area has blocked the easiest acccess route to the final cache site. We have two suggestions:

First suggestion - go on the weekend. The construction crew will not be there then, but please be careful not to fall into a hole and do not do anything illegal...

Second suggestion - From the South side, there are some office buildings, if you go after-hours or on the weekend the parking lot is empty. Park as close as you can (about .15 or less away). You will need to find a faint trail from the parking lot, to a dirt road, to the old burned down house, to the cache site. The first 20 feet or so require a little bushwhacking after that it is a nice trail. This was the trail we used to haul in the extra large cache container. Just find the right place to start from the parking lot.

Check out the log entry on April 13, 2005 by Lucky Kid and Proud Parents. They have included a nice Aerial photo of the best approach as detailed above. (Thank you LK&PP!)

(The construction in that area has been going on for several months, however just recently (last week) they physically closed the road to thru traffic.)
