Geocache Description:

The Durgin Bridge is a Paddleford truss with added arches, 96' long with a clear span of 72', an overall width of 19' and a roadway width of 13'10". The current bridge is the 4th one on this site, and was built in 1869 by Jacob Berry. The bridge is named for James Holmes Durgin who ran a grist mill nearby. The remains of the mill and the old school house can be seen nearby. The bridge was also a link in the underground slave railroad from Sandwich to North Conway.

We are a bit partial to this spot as it is the location of our wedding. The Original cache here was also our first find. We are really happy to have been able to adopt this one. Cache is a little bigger than a film canister. It contains a log only. Bring your own pen or pencil There is no walkway path on this bridge and no need to go into the middle of the bridge.
