Take a short walk in the red rocks near lovely Pena Blanca Lake to just below Thumb Rock. There is a natural pool nearby with a ‘sometimes’ waterfall flowing into it. Many will want to take a ten minute steep hike up to Thumb Rock--The view is fantastic.
Off of I 19, take 289, The Ruby Road, west towards Pena Blanca Lake. Park at the Lower Thumb Rock Picnic Area. The cache is a short walk away along a wash that may have water in it. Unfortunately this area is now quite overgrown, so wear long pants. When you get near the cache, you will have a short scramble to get to it. There was no evidence of illegals in this area today.
Cache is a small ammo box and very well hidden. Please conceal it as well when you re-hide it.
