“Sætern gård” (Sætern farm) was bought from “Statsbygg” by
“Den Norske Turistforening Oslo og Omegn” in february 2000. That
was made possible by a generous gift from Olav Thon.
Today the farm is
mainly used by “Barnas turlag”, but is possible to hire for others
too. In the summer animals are grazing in the fields. Two different
themed paths are going from the main house. Permanent fire places
are made for everyone to use.
To find the cache
you first need to visit “Sagstua” at the cords given at the
top of this page.
Sagstua is an
example of one of many cottar farms (husmannsplasser) in this area.
- They didn’t have too much space some years ago, did they? The
name comes from a steampowered saw that was placed close by. The
last family who lived here was named, as you may have understood,
Pettersen.
Some other cottar
farms in the area are:
Veimyr, Øverlandsplassen,
Holen, Madserud, Enga
and Lund.
Before you leave you
have to know:
-
If you look at the
outer wall to the left (north) of the door, you can see that the
largest roof structure is supported by 10cm x 10cm beams of wood.
How many such beams are visible along this wall ? =
b
-
How many big round
openings do you see at the top of the oven (count ALL of
them!)
Multiply this with 2 and
add the number of skylights (takluker) = c
