Vehicle entry fee of seniors 65 and over is discounted
October 1 to March 30 is $2.60
April 1 to September 30 is $2.85
If the entrance collection booth is not open, self pay can be done at 37 38.670 N and 094 48.876 W, or a permit can be obtained at the park office at 37 38.728 N and 094 48.737 W.
I have put out 5 caches at this park in hopes that paying the entry fee might not seem so bad. Permission for placing caches has been obtained from the park manager.
Crawford State Park is located 9 miles north of Girard on Highway 7. The 150 acre lake was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps on the Drywood Creek in the early 1930's. Shortly thereafter, a fish hatchery was built below the dam. In 1965, Crawford State Park was established.
Parking for this cache is located at the south boat ramp area at 37 37.812 N and 094 49.056. There is a hiking/biking trailhead where you turnoff the road to go to the boatramp area. The trailhead should be easy to see, but if not, it's at 37 37.785 N and 094 49.087 W.
Follow the hiking/biking trail and you will probably hear the dogs barking from nearby cabins.
The cache is in an ammo box and contains various items for trade.
The walk is less than 10 minutes and there is a trail to follow. The cache is located about 30 feet off the trail, but the brush is fairly thin. There will be some uneven terrain also.
