Geocache Description:

Very Easy. If during non-business hours you can park within 20 feet of cache.

This is the neighborhood where my grandparents still live and where my mom grew up. The cache is an ammo box hidden along the fenceline of the old Wilshire Little League Ball Park known as Blaesing Field which opened around 1955 and closed around 1979 to make room for the local residents. The field was named after Herman J. Blaesing who owned the property and at the time didn't need this section of it.

About 15 feet from the cache are a set of stairs that was the main entrance into the field. If you stand on the stairs and look through the fence you will see 2 brick buildings. The closest one was the restrooms and the further one was the maintenance building. This is all that remains of the Ball Park which was said to have been the best Little League Field of its day even surpassing Alpenrose. Blaesing Field had real dug-outs and a 2 story building which housed a concession stand, umpire's dressing room and press box on top. There was a sound system and later an electronic scoreboard. Collections were taken but never enough money to put in lights. There are not too many people around that know about Blaesing Field...no signs...no plaques...no newspaper clippings...it's a neighborhood treasure that has long been buried.
