On August 30th, 2004, the remnants of Tropical Storm Gaston
passed over downtown Richmond, then stalled.
Weather Reports called for moderately heavy rains. What
followed was beyond belief.
Over 10 feet of water passed through Shockoe Bottom in just a
few hours.
The new floodwall, meant to keep the James River from entering
the Bottom, became a major obstacle that trapped the water in the Bottom.
The Bottom has fought the James through many hurricanes and
floods, but this storm came without any reaction time or warning.
Many businesses in the area were completely destroyed, yet
somehow - they have chosen to stay and rebuild.
The cache is a very micro cache, hidden on the outside wall of
one of these businesses.
While in the area take advantage of the many great
restaurants, cafes, and unique stores.
