Geocache Description:

This cache is not about becoming rich sorry!
The suggested parking for the cache is N51 22.529, W001 31.295. The cache is along a level byway, mostly grass, some mud! In winter there are lovely views to both sides of the byway - they may get hidden in spring/summer.

In 1709 the nearby Prosperous Farm was left to Jethro Tull (no, not the musician). This one was born in Basildon, Berkshire on 30th March, 1674 and started his farming career at Crowmarsh, Near Wallingford, before coming here.

He is most famous for inventing the seed drill, pulled by a horse and sowing seed in straight lines, then covering it up afterwards. Prior to this seed was sown by hand and much was eaten by birds or came up in clumps or grew sparsly. This drill forms the basis for seed drills, even today! He also invented a mechanical horse-drawn hoe and wrote a book on "Horse Hoing Husbandry". (Now, don't all get it out of the library at the same time!)

He died at the farm here on 21st February, 1741 although he was buried at his birthplace in Basildon.

The cache is a tupperware type container with a blue lid, in a plastic bag. It contains the usual selection of goodies, plus a log book and some finder cards. If you take the last, please could you let us know and we will replace them. Thank you.
