Cycling the scenic, remote roads of Central Texas is one of my
favorite things to do when I’m not Geocaching. Most cyclists are
always on the lookout for good ride maps, and most geocachers are
on the lookout for scenic places to cache. So here you go! This is
another in a series I call Cycle Central Texas where I’ll combine
my two hobbies.
River Road: Mount your bikes in front of the historic
Gruene Dance Hall. River Road is one of the most scenic rides in
Texas! You will LOVE this ride in the winter, and HATE it in the
summer due to all the tubers, so I highly recommend the off season.
The route takes you to the top of Canyon Dam. Your ride can be
shortened by turning around at the cache location. The section you
are missing by doing this has more traffic, so don’t feel bad!
Total distance is 39 miles with one major climb up the dam, but
fairly flat the rest of the way. Enjoy!

If you MUST drive instead of ride to the cache site, please drive
carefully and watch out for cyclists who may be right around the
next curve. It could be ME!
Please email me through Geocaching.com enabling me to respond to
your true email address for a GPX or MPS file you can use to load
this map into your computer or GPS!
