Geocache Description:

The cache is located at about 7600 ft. in the Pike National Forest. It is more than a 3 mile hike (round trip) via the Penrose Trail, which is part of the Captain Jacks Trail system. Various starting points and hikes are possible.

The trail in Sesame Canyon is officially closed to protect the Greenback Cutthroat Trout. Also, off trail travel in the Bear Creek drainage basin is no longer allowed. The cache is on a ridge that is the boundary of the basin. The cache is close to a social trail that is not always clear.

The Penrose Trailhead and parking lot for the Penrose Trail and the Captain Jacks multi-use trail system is along Gold Camp Road. This route has a number of other caches along the way and many view points. An alternate way is to park at the "Hub" (junction of Gold Camp Road, High Drive, and N. Cheyenne Canyon Rd.) and hike up High Drive to the Penrose Trail #665.

High Drive is no longer open to public, motorized vehicles.

P.S. The difficulty rating comes from the system. Some caches in this area that are rated around 2 to 2.5 are much easier than this one. In other words it might pay to think of this as a 3 or 3.5 and I might change it to 3 in the future.
