The Bure Valley Ramble Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sue and Bernie: The time has come the Walrus said...

We've thought long and hard and put off the inevitable until prompted into action. This cache has been stolen twice, others are placing caches along the route and traditional multi-caches like this are no longer popular with the general caching population.

Although we moved away from the area, we travelled back to the area several times to carry out maintenance on the series but it is time to give the area back to the locals.

With great reluctance, we have decided to surrender the Bure Valley Ramble and allow it to be permanently archived.

Geocache Description:

The cache is a standard ammo box at the end of a trail of mini-caches.

This series of multi-caches will take you on a 5-6 mile bimble around the Bure Valley starting from Coltishall Village. The village is easily accessible by road or public transport.

There are several hostelries in the village for your before and after rambling needs and a smashing riverside picnic location at N 52 43.650, E 01 22.328 – with another two pubs side by side.

The trail you will follow is mainly on public footpaths. Note that they are exactly that and are not suitable for bikes or pushchairs. An Ordnance Survey Map of the area will be extremely useful to you.

If the weather is wet, there will be muddy bits so wear boots in inclement weather. In fine weather, the nettles flourish - so be prepared!

Initially you are required to visit 2 sites, the first in Coltishall village, the second in the joined Horstead village where your ramble will commence. You can park a car at either of these close locations. There you have to obtain the answers to some simple questions to decipher the co-ordinates as go along:

Location 1: N 52 43.747, E 01 21.464

1. How many wells can you see? (Answer = A)
2. Who’s pye? How many letters in the first name?(Answer = B)
3. How many letters in the name of the fruit you can see? (Answer = C)
4. How many beans? (Answer = D)

Location 2: N 52 43.754, E01 21.027

1. Lincoln Wainwright and a friend are noted here, how many letters in the friend’s first and second name? (Answer = E & F)
2. E – B = G
3. F + C = H
4. Difference between G and H = I
5. A + B – I = J

The final cache contains a bag of swaps for children, a bag of swaps for the bigger children, a camera to capture the moment, logbook and pens.

…now off on your ramble, your first mini-cache is at N 52 FF.GIC, E 01 AJ.FCF. There you will find the coded co-ordinates for the next …and so on. Enjoy!
