Traditional cache on riverside conservation land in Taunton, MA
This is not in a well groomed tree huggers park. This cache is in the woods near a riverside sand pit frequented for dirt bike riding and high school keggers. This is one of the few places I know of, in S.E. MA, where this is still well tolerated. It seems all the places we hung out as kids have been "improved" into housing developments or golf courses. Don't get me wrong, I fully support preserving our natural resources, but Trailer Trash needs a place to be Trailer Trash. It would not hurt to do a little CITO while you're here. You could probably make enough cash on returnable cans and bottles to cover your lunch. This cache can be approached several ways. You can launch your kayak at N 41 50.069 W 071 06.429 and paddle to the cache (2.5 mi each way but really pleasant trip) or the most legal parking I know of is at the Dighton Town Offices and take the trail that starts at N 41 50.391 W 071 06.970, also a pleasant 2.5 mi hike along the river. I didn't take either of these routes to hide it. You're on your own to find an easier route. There are many, some with obstacles to discourage ATVs and dirtbikes but foot traffic is generally okay. Enjoy.
