Within a small city park. Contains a wonderful waterfall area. Can be muddy to very muddy during the wet season. You'll travel about a mile total depending on starting point.
Currently one of the bridges needed to get to the second clue is out of order. This makes finding the clue much more difficult so I have changed the rating until it is repaired.
Parking can be found at: (A) 45^ 27.305 122^ 41.567 and (B) 45^ 27.389 122^ 41.726.
I recommend (A) if you are with kids and would like a park setting for them to play in. I’d recommend (B) for the simplest most direct route.
The cache name derives from the four troll hideouts you may cross during your hunt.
The coordinates will lead you to a small tin (1.5 inch round) in the crook of a tree. If you are using the (B) parking spot you will cross the “uncle’s” troll abode getting here. Inside the tin you will find the coordinates for the next tin which is hidden at the base of a tree. Getting there you will see the young troll’s abode and the father troll’s abode. That tin has the coordinates that will lead to the actual location of the cache. If you cross back over the two previous troll homes you’ll have to cross the grandpa troll’s hideout to get to the cache.
As is my custom I have forced you to traverse a good deal of the park. This time of the year it can get pretty muddy on the trails, particularly the end of the last leg.
