>>>>>>>The impact structure.
650 million years ago a meteorite with enormous speed and power hit the surface of the Earth in Gardnos, Nesbyen. The interest in Gardnos was taken when Oslo Energy in the 1960s had problems dynamiting a water tunnel through the crater area. They had to increase the amount of dynamite by 30%. At first, the geologists thought that Gardnos was a vulcanic crater. In 1990, the geologists Naterstad and Dons found the answer in microscopic studies. Gardnos was one of the most accessible meteorite craters in the world! A meteorite with a 200-300 m diameter struck this area and a 5 km diameter crater was produced by the enormous amount of energy established by the impact.

To log this visit, send a photo of yourself with a GPS in the crater along with the number of people who visited with you.
