Geocache Description:

Overlooking the Footings for the old railroad bridge over the Scoudouc River

Shediac New Brunswick was once a railroad town but starting in the 1870’s the railroad shops were slowly moved to Moncton. The last of the old buildings were torn down around 1980 when the Superannuation Building was built.

All that is left of the railroad’s presence are the trails on the railroad bed and the old railroad station downtown. Passenger trains stopped at the station until the 1960’s on their way to Parlee Beach and Pointe du Chene.

When train service was terminated, the tracks were removed. For safety reasons, the railroad bridge not far from town over the Scoudouc River was also removed. A walk along the railroad bed will bring you to a spectacular view of the river and the old bridge footings far below.

You can access the path on the railroad bed at the end of Riverside drive in Shediac. Park near Alleluia St and follow the path a short distance to the cache.

We have also placed a cache on the other side of the river, Across from Alleluia - Scoudouc River series cache, but it can only be accessed from Scoudouc

The cache is a small tobacco container with small traders, log book, pencil and sharpener.

PLEASE NOTE: THE CACHE IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE AND IS NOT IN A DANGEROUS LOCATION.
