Hideaway in Galloway Multi-Cache
Led Zeppole: Bear Babe and I recently moved to southern Cape May County, so I'm not in this area very often now (I used to live a few houses south of this park!). Stopped by this afternoon and retrieved the .50 cal. ammo can that served as stage 2. The Red Stallion TB was not in the cache and the Alex's Stegosaurus TB is missing its tag. This hide had a good two-year run, thanks to all who visited!

Two stage multi located in Galloway Veterans Memorial Park, US Rt. 9 North, Galloway Twp., Atlantic County. Stage one is virtual, stage two is an ammo can. Round trip from parking to stage one, stage one to stage two and back to your car is just under a mile. Coordinates were established from multiple readings taken on two days with light cloud cover with WAAS signals being received.
Posted park hours are dawn to dusk, so please respect the rules and do not attempt this as a night cache. You will need to bring a pad and pencil or pen. Listed coordinates are for stage one. Park in the lot at 39 deg. 26.187 N, 074 deg. 28.820 W. and proceed to stage one, where you'll need your paper and writing implement to answer the following questions. The answers will give you the missing digits for the location of the second stage, which you'll find at 39 deg. 26.xxx N, 074 deg. 28.xxx W.
Questions for the North coordinate:
1st digit: Last digit of the final year of Sgt. Kathryn Stoner's service in the Marine Corps.
2nd digit: Number of letters in the second word of Air Force veteran Howard Taylor's nickname.
3rd digit: Number of letters in World War II Army veteran Master Sergeant Carmine's last name.
Questions for the West coordinate:
1st digit: Number of letters in Navy veteran Victor's last name (hint: he served aboard the USS Fulton).
2nd digit: Navy veteran Robert D. White's rank was Gunner's Mate _ Class.
3rd digit: Number of letters in Army veteran Melvin's last name (hint: he served from 1951 to 1953).
After getting the answers, proceed to stage two. Most of the walk is on flat paths, but a brief bushwhack is required at the end, which is easy in winter, moderate in spring and summer when the trees and plants are in bloom. There are briars and some poison ivy in the vicinity of stage two, and the area can be muddy after a heavy rain. Between May and October, apply insect repellent before heading over to stage two as green head flies and mosquitos are plentiful in the area. **Please COMPLETELY re-hide stage two after you are finished with it.**
After finding stage two and before heading to your car, you might want to take a stroll down the shell-paved path leading to the marsh. You will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Atlantic City skyline. As you admire the view, take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made on our behalf by members of the armed forces, past and present, such as those whose names helped you in your search. We owe them all a great debt of gratitude.
Good luck and happy caching!
