Geocache Description:

A northern Griffith Park spot overlooking the intersection of the 5 and 134 freeways.

UPDATE: 12/21/07 Skyline Trail is, and has been, open for some time. Limited trail openings in burn areas were announced today. Many favorite trails remain off-limits, however. For access updates, see lagriffithpark.blogspot.com//.

UPDATE: 5/19/07 I believe this is outside the burn area, but in the aftermath of the Griffith Park fire, ALL hiking trails south of Zoo Drive (that's all of them) are closed until further notice. $1000 fine and six months jail for violation. The one exception is the East & West Observatory Trail which is open from Ferndell directly to the Observatory. For closure updates, see lagriffithpark.blogspot.com//.

Another in the series of caches in the less visited northern section of Griffith Park. As with all the Griffith Park caches, there are numerous parking locations, access points and trail loop possibilities, with varying time and energy commitments. I'll leave it up to you. You can also pick up the nearby Skyline I, Sky Summit and Silver Buck caches. Take a lesiurely stroll on wide fire roads/horse trails for a 2 hour tour or, use your geosenses, follow the paths of least resistance and go for a cache and dash perfecta in 30 minutes! Cache is

an olive green painted mayo jar, initially containing a water wiggle, antenna ball, rubber snakes, bookmarks, mini-bungee, Cortaid stick, miscellaneous critters,

a camo painted cylindrical biscuit tin, with miscellaneous trinkets, etc. Please re-hide as found to prevent unintentional discoveries. Please note: Recent rains have done some damage to the trails which has not yet been repaired. Tread carefully. Caution: ticks, rattlesnakes and mountain lions are known to inhabit the area. Enjoy the walk!
