Approx. 3/10 mile down stream is a DL&W Tunnel.
The Tunnel Opens Up and Swallows The Stream. This tunnel was built be the DL&W railroad. This Tunnel was part of an advanced improvemnet to the railroad line that greatly reduced grades and curvature along a 39 mile portion of the Lackawanna Railroad's New York - Buffalo line. This allowed the use of larger locomotives and cut down the time it took to travel between Scranton, Pa. and Buffalo, NY.
