Geocache Description:

Located near the beautiful setting and view at Rocky Glen Cemetery.

When you drive to this spot, you'll be treated to one of the most beautiful views in the entire region, during any season. Bring binoculars! In the warmer weather, the grassy area near the cache is used for overflow funeral parking, so be aware and considerate.

The name of the cache refers to the village of Atlantic, visible at the top of the hill to the east across the valley. On May 31st of 1985, Atlantic was the worst-hit town of the great tornado outbreak that day, nearly completely destroyed by the F-5 twister. The funnel was 1/2 mile wide. It passed just south of the cache location, cutting trees at mid-height as far as one could see. It's alot harder to see the damage now. President Ronald Regan declared Atlantic a National Disaster Area.

I included a pen with the log book, of course. The cache has been specially camouflaged...you'll see what I mean when I find it. Let us know what you think of the view! And be sure to drive down the road to Route 18 and check out another perspective from the long white picket fence! (Can't miss it!)
