South of parking lot of the old Sirloin Stockade steakhouse.
This cache is located in what used to be a very busy business
location. Because of the booming activity of the nearby hospitals
(Lovelace and the Veterens Administration), and the base, this
street had about 30 different restaurants between Louisiana and San
Mateo. You could get just about anything you could be hungry for:
Chinese, Italian, Mexican, pizza, three different hamburger places,
barbeque, fish, and even steaks. I used to work at this place just
coming out of high school. With the changing times, and government
cut backs, a lot of the places needed to close down. There is still
a variety of good places to go, though. Original cache contains:
log, pen and pencil, a spinner fly lure, misc. pins, a pen-shapped
flashlight, Hot Wheels Hummer, Hot Wheels Wastelanders car,and a
Matchbox "Dale Earnhart Mr. Goodwrench racecar. Per Zuni kid's
entry: This may be one of the few "Drive up Caches" in the city.
Original cache muggled mid-August 2005 when new Laundry business
came in. Cache replaced 082005. Muggled shortly after, but replaced
112605. Please put cache in original location after signing log to
maintain camo effect.
