Sanctuary 2 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Pofe: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks,

As the darkness swirls around you, the Native American Chieftain says you are needed. Something in the darkness around you is howling! You turn to ask the chieftain what he needs you for. In the dim light you see gleaming red eyes! Then a shape moves by. It has bat wings and a forked tail! Is that the Machtando Japeechan? You turn around again and you are in your house. The moon outside is full. Suddenly a face appears at the window. It’s small, pointy and covered with hair. The thing is laughing! You scream out! No sound comes from your mouth. You turn to run but your feet can’t move! You struggle and scream. You can feel the force of something restraining you! And all the time that thing is in the window…… laughing!!!!!!!

You awake suddenly next to your bed. You had that same nightmare again. You’re all tangled up in your sheets and you have obviously been screaming. Your throat is sore and your sweating. As you walk to the kitchen to get a drink, you try to remember what the Indian chief in your dreams told you. He has haunted your dreams since you brought home your grandfather’s old Lenape Indian tale. Your grandfather told you an old Indian Chief gave it to him. It was painted on a piece of animal hide.  What is the chieftain in your dreams trying to tell you? What was it he said?

“You must know the way to stop him! Go to the totem!”

What totem is he talking about? What could this have to do with the poem?

You started translating the old Indian tale. Maybe this place will help you find some answers. Unable to sleep, you begin searching Native American totems on the web. You find the one you were looking for. That thing in your dreams is on top! It’s right here in New Jersey! You pack up a pen and some paper, grab your translation of the old poem and throw them in an old backpack. Tomorrow you will go to the and, hopefully, find the answers you seek. Is that the Machtando Japeechan?

Indian Tale

Machtando Japeechan Come here! We are the people. Wild animals guide us where to imprison you! The land is your prison and your place to sleep.  We created the seal with our own hands! Our art will seal you in. If you escape others will find the animals to guide them. You know the place to find the animals. Nawalan their path. I say the names! Òkwës Achtu Xanikw Quiquingus Òkwës   Achtu Sënihële Xanikw Quiquingus Achtu! Follow them to where they lead. We drew you here! Machtando Japeechan to the land. We have the gift. The spirits will teach them to draw you there again!

This cache is inside the Cameron Wildlife Sanctury also known as the Cape May County Park North. It is on Rt. 9 in Palermo. The park is open from 9:30AM to 4:30PM so be sure to give yourself time to solve this multicache. Keep your eyes open for wildlife as well. The deer here are well fed and so are the geese and squirrels for that matter. So don’t feed them. They have a picnic area outside the fence for those of you stopping for lunch. No Bikes Allowed!

You will need a few things to complete this cache.

1) Print out the Indian tale

2) Bring some paper & a pen or pencil.

3) Cache trades.

4) Bring your thinking cap and imagination.

Help keep this park clean! CITO when you cache everywhere!
