We are an outdoor Crew. We love to hike, garden, fish, travel and well, you get the idea. The area this cache brings you to is a more remote part of Gainesville. We’ve enjoyed many things from, shark tooth hunting, sunsets in the field and identifying edible plants and wildlife. This area used to be an archery range. If you explore a bit you will find old benches and target areas. It has not been cleaned up since the hurricanes so some of your exploration may require you to hop over downed trees.
This cache represents some of the stuff we like to do. In it you will find books and magazines on hiking, fishing, invasive plants, ID guides for fish and insects, some “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, and one Tim Dorsey book “Road Kill” (Funny story that takes place in Florida, an adult read please) and one well used USA road atlas along with some maps of various states. Oh yeah and one book by Garrison Keillor “Stories from Lake Wobegon”. Hopefully this will give you an idea of how we got our name! Trade something outdoor/wildlife related.
If you decide to go shark tooth hunting, please don't damage the creek. Shovels are not needed just squat and look, you'll see one.
CAUTION: Don't do this one at night. The creekbed is thirty feet below you. The cache is far enough away from the edge, but at night it is just too risky.
