The coordinates
above are not the location of the cache. The graffiti under the
bridge is not a part of the puzzle. The coordinates are,
however, the center point of the bridge of 15th Ave NE where it
spans Ravenna Park.
Grant for a moment that willing
suspension of disbelief and imagine while on vacation in the
Caribbean you and some friends take a small sailboat out for the
day and find that you have lost sight of land. Then you spot a
large Spanish galleon apparently abandoned at sea. You assume a
command position on the bridge of this ship and discover in the log
book a map with an island circled and a puzzle scratched on the
back.
In the lower corners of the map you
notice the figures 50X2 and a curious set of numbers and letters
scribed between them. What could these things mean?
In a drawer of the former captain's
quarters, under a fixed compass card, and two things that look like
sextants, but aren't, you find two pages of definitions which
appear to be related to the grid on the back of the map.
You instruct your crew to set a
course for the above coordinates, then seclude yourself to peruse
the documents.
(You can get a full size clear print of the grid on THE BACK
OF THE MAP, and the clues to solve the puzzle from THE
DRAWER.)
Solve the puzzle and the method to find this cache filled with
good pirate booty for treasure hunters of all ages will become
clear to you.
There is no need to enter private property to access the
cache.
