It’s time to sharpen your pencils and brush off your math skills!
Since Swarthmore College is one of the most prestigious
institutions of learning in the United States, we thought it’d be
appropriate to start off this cache with a challenge:
the longitude of the first stage can be found by interpreting
the 509,582nd prime in DD MM.MMM format; the latitude can be found
by interpreting the 8,939,729th through 8,939,735th significant
digits of pi in a similar fashion.
A prime number is an integer greater than one whose only
positive divisors are itself and one. pi is the ratio of the
circumference of a circle to its diameter. It will also help you
greatly to familiarize yourself with the DD.DDDDD and UTM formats
as well.
The grounds of the College, while seldom crowded, may still
necessitate discretion. Good luck and happy hunting!
