The Fred E. Marquis Trail, more commonly known as the Pinellas Trail, is a wonderful amenity for everyone who lives in or visits Pinellas County. I spend a tremendous amount of time on the trail either biking or racewalking so it is only fitting that my first cache is associated with the trail. There are many caches along the Pinellas Trail or within a few blocks either side. Bring your bike and make a day of it. There used to be a shelter here and the cache was under the roof, thus the name. The shelter and its associated benches and trash can have been removed so I had to find a different way to hide a cache here. A nearby tree was the obvious place. The dog will bark but there's a good fence between you and it. You should bring your own writing implement. The Trail is open Dawn-to-Dusk so plan accordingly. If you have some time and want some exercise, you can reach this cache by hiking or biking. There is good parking and easy trail access .622 mile to the north where the Trail crosses 102nd Ave. or 1.1 miles south at "North By Northwest" (GCXG7J).
