Geocache Description:

Los Gatos Creek – Revisited

Yeh, that’s right, Los Gatos Creek!
The “Mighty Los Gatos once followed this route that, this series of caches is following!
In 1866 a flood caused by a torrential downpour that lasted for hours, caused the creek, to burst though it’s banks in Campbell, with such force that it cut a new channel at what is now the intersection of “San Thomas Expressway and Highway 17.
The creek had followed the path of what is now McGlincy Ave and Dry Creek Road, turning north at Peregino Way. It continued on through what is now Branhall Park. (if you walk to the west side of the park You can see the northerly route that the creek flowed.) It continued on for another .2 mi to where the present day creek flows just past the Meridian Ave bridge.
These caches were placed so that you can get a feel of how the flow of the creek went and where you would probably be biking or hiking or skating to get to these caches today.

Note: If you’re trying to follow this route, while on Dry Creek road, for some reason you cannot go straight at Bascom Ave or Leigh Ave. Taking right turns and making your first U-turns is the way to go about it.

Cache 4
It was at this point where the creek bed turned north.
After finding the cache you might want to continue on up Dry Creek to look at some wonderful old houses. Theophilus Kirks house and grounds are really special. Try and go to see it.
