Historical site located in Benton, IL. Easy parking. Easy flat terrain.
Could be an easy find for some or a more difficult find for others. Park on the parking lot on the East side near the WWI cannon and have a good look around.
This cache is in a regular size, round Tupperware container that contains old photos of Charlie Birger, a log book and pencil. There is plenty of room for trade items, but please leave the old photos.
Charlie Birger was a 1920's bootlegger that was the last person to be executed at a public hanging in Illinois. There is a gallows on the East side of the old jail.
The building at the location is the the old Franklin County Jail, now a museum.
