Geocache Description:

Standard cache in a dried-out paint bucket

Our first cache at a favorite spot of ours. The cache is contained in a black plastic 1-gallon paint bucket. Not difficult to find -- we used the only cover available in most of Nevada. The road in is passable to any decent passenger vehcle (no sports cars), and the cache is not far from the road. Terrain should be easy enough for anyone to get around, even with young 'uns.

Contents when first planted:
- Kermit Travel Bug
- plactic doll
- toy dinosaur
- label stickers
- Atlantis key card
- Beefeater swizzle sticks
- guitar pick
- roll of film
- ceramic scarab from Egypt
- REI key clip
- clothes pin
- collection of patches: Chester, CA; Lassen; Squaw Valley; and Palm Spring Tram

The cache is located among some calcite fossil beds, so bring some digging tools and a putty knife to dig for fossils while you're here. The beds are the remains of ancient Lake Lahontan and contain fossilized leaves from trees and plants that no longer appear in the Great Basin. Just pick a trench, grab a white rock and give it a sharp blow to get the rock to split. It takes a sharp eye, but there's a ton of fossils here. Be kind and leave some for the next guy.
