Snail Trails Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Kirbert: Stage 1 was right where it was supposed to be, but stages 2, 3, and 5 were missing -- and all the others were in poor condition. I decided to pull and archive this cache after a good run. I planted a new single-stage cache, Little Sir Echo, in this same area so these nice trails wouldn't be forgotten.

Geocache Description:

Take your time walking along these forest trails around Lake Hiawatha and Lake Bradford.

This multi is about 2 miles round trip. The paths are open and clear. You can do this one by biking, hiking, or on horseback. There are also lots of fishing spots in the area.

You can follow paved roads to the trails by taking Lake Bradford Road off of either Capital Circle or Orange Avenue. Longleaf Lane is paved will take you to the eastern edge of the trails, with paved public parking at N30' 24.288 W084' 20.838.

One entrance to these trails is off SW Capital Circle at N30 24.803 W084 21.175. You can park at N30 24.681 W084 20.681 and get a good view of Lake Hiawatha if the gate is open. There is a birding platform nearby at N30 24.695 W084 20.944.

If you bring a kayak or canoe you can access both of the lakes which are connected by a canal. You will notice fencing/cages on the land across lakes. They contain various beasts such as Florida panther, black bear, albino squirrels and skunks at the Museum of Natural History.

Follow the Snail Trails to get to the final cache. Just follow the obvious wide open trails from one stage to the next; there is no bushwacking required to speak of. The last stage which is a large waterproof ammo box.

Take your time and enjoy the hike. Look at your track log when done. Does it look like a snail trail?
