Geocache Description:

A fairly easy cache hidden just outside the boundaries of Belknap Cemetery. Turn onto the dirt road across from Fort Belknap. You'll have to open and close the cattle gate at one point on the road.

The container is the familiar "Bison tube" design - metal tube with a screw on cap and rubber gasket. To replace to logbook, roll it as tight as possible and place it in the cap - not the body - of the tube.

The town of Belknap was a half mile east of Fort Belknap and three miles south of the site of present Newcastle. The nearby fort was named for Gen. William G. Belknap, who selected the site and established Camp Belknap in 1851.

Fort Belknap itself is a very nice park maintained by Young County. The buildings and grounds are in *great* shape! Take a few minutes to stroll the grounds and take in the history.

FYI - the nearby town of Newcastle sells wine and beer.

Please note that you do not pronounce the "K" in Belknap. Pretend its not there. "Bell-nap"
