Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Thorndon Country Park in Brentwood, Essex. Thorndon is a wonderful park with miles of footpaths where you can enjoy all that park life has to offer. At the Thorndon Countryside Centre you can purchase light refreshments. The Centre sponsors many walks and talks so keep a look out for the bulletin board. There is also a picnic area, a children’s play area and clean toilets here. Pick up a map of the park here to get a good overview of the area.

There are three main parking areas for the park. At the Countryside Centre, at another lot on a bit east of the Centre and at the southern end of the park, where there is another refreshment kiosk and toilets. To park for the entire day there is a £2 fee, but you can use the same ticket to park in any of the car parks. This is one of many caches in Thorndon Park; why not make a day out of it? Bring the kids, the dog a packed lunch and your walking shoes!

If you want to park close we recommend the car park down the lane from the Centre at N51 35.885 E000 19.566.

The name of the cache was chosen because of the large amount of bats living in the park. Keep an eye out for bat watching walks sponsored by the park, they will be posted on the bulletin board mentioned above.

The cache is a black Lock n Lock measuring 6"x4"x2". It contains the usual trinkets you’d find in a cache. Accuracy was about 30 feet when placing this cache. It is not very far off a busy footpath so please be discreet and make sure the cache is well hidden when you leave. And most importantly, enjoy yourself.

PLEASE NOTE: This cache is part of the Thorndon Park Bonus Cache. A link to the cache page is here.

Good luck!
