The Garden State Parkway! There is no easier and costly way
to go Up or Down the Jersey Coast!
In 1945,
the NJ Legislature ordered the construction of the GSP or RT. 444. The parkway
was built to connect northern New Jersey with resort areas on the Atlantic
coast. It was proposed in response to growing congestion on US 9
& other major routes. The parkway has eleven 35-cent barrier tolls at
the following locations: Cape May, Great Egg Harbor, New Gretna, Barnegat, Toms River,
Asbury Park, Raritan, Union, Essex, Bergen and Hillsdale. In addition, the
parkway has entrance and exit tolls at 19 locations.
