Geocache Description:

This is a multi/puzzle cache.

Cemeteries are one of our favorite places to peruse. Old cemeteries are by far the best -- they are full of amazing stories of lives that came before ours. Strolling through an old cemetery is like reading a good book full of history.

Royal’s grave is what originally brought us here. His name made us smile. Thanks to the Captain, we also learned some interesting history and found a breath-taking nature nook that we want to share with you.

The coordinates above will lead you to Royal’s Grave.

Your job: What year was he born? That year = AAAA

One grave south of his -- sadly -- was tipped over when we found it. Henry Paine died in the battle of Piedmont, VA, and was a prisoner of war when he died.

What year did he die? (That year = BBBB) and what was his age? (Age = CC)

Two graves south of Royal lies Charles Paine. In what year was he wounded in the battle of Gettysburg? (DDDD)

That will take you to the following stone:

“Here lies Inter'd the Remains of the Respectable Elisha Lyon Eldest Son of Capt. Nehemiah Lyon & Mehetable his wife. He died Oct. 15th EEEE, in the FFth Year of His Age. His Death is mournfully memorable on account of the manner and Occasion. For as He was Decently going thro' the military manual Excercise in the Company under Comand of Capt. Elisha Child. Sd. Capt. Giving the words of Command. He was Wounded by the discharge of Fire arms used by one of the Company. Sd. arms having been Loaded Intirely unknown to him, the wound was Instantaneous Death."

Then find the final, beautiful property where the cache is located. Watch for sharp rose thorns. In case you wonder if you are in the right spot, know that the cache is not located in a manicured yard. It is a pretty patch of wilderness that the owner gladly shares with the community.

Pictures are welcome of any part of this cache as long as they don't contain spoilers that reveal information needed to locate this cache.

Bring your camera! Special thanks to Tim Rainville for giving geocachers permission to enjoy his absolutely gorgeous property on the final leg of this cache.

Hint is for final.
