This cache is placed near a very neat dam. The dam is part of the Floodwood Swamp Reservoir. It is not a pretty name but a neat place anyway. The dam has a nice walkway over it. However, the walkway is not for young children. (Open sides on walkway over flowing water.)
In the summer, this is a good picnic place to watch the wildlife in the wetlands and pond areas. We saw nine deer and some hawks while placing this cache.
This cache was won at the great MiGO Winter Social Event in 2005. It came fully stocked but I added a few items and a $5.00 first finders prize.
It is also started with the Humphries Travel Bug. I hope you enjoy this area.
Long Lake Road note: (It looks like a fire trail) A note from Sunny66:
We did your "Best Dam Cache" this weekend and we just wanted to let you know that we came in from the west off of Long Lake Rd. A couple of homeowners claimed that it is a private drive, even though on our gps it shows it as a public road. He claims that he has called the police before (due to heavy public use) and they said it was private, so you may want to add a note to the cache web page to have cachers avoid entering from Long Lake Rd. Note: Try the trail road with Orange Triangle markings, that is the snowmobile trail route. It is wide for full size cars!
